Your weather app says rain. I'm looking at the sea and it's flat and blue. Forecast models read the whole region as one square and call the day washed out — what actually happens is twenty loud minutes at four in the afternoon, then the light goes gold. So don't take my word for it either. Look at the island right now.

Koh Samui weather month by month
Samui does not follow the rest of Thailand. While Phuket is soaked in September, we're fine — and while Phuket is perfect in November, we get the worst of ours. This catches people out constantly.

Is the weather app accurate for Koh Samui?
Not really. Forecast models read the whole Gulf of Thailand as one coarse grid square, so a single afternoon shower over the region gets printed as rain across your entire day. What usually happens is twenty loud minutes in the late afternoon, then the sky reopens. That's why I'd check a live camera before cancelling anything.
What is the rainy season in Koh Samui?
Samui runs on a different calendar to the rest of Thailand. The wettest stretch is roughly late October through December, peaking in November — while the west coast of Thailand is dry. February to April is the driest and hottest. June to September is mixed but far better than most people expect, which is why summer is quietly a good time to come.
What is the water temperature in Koh Samui?
Warm enough year-round that you never think about it — usually 28–30°C. Coming from Europe this takes adjusting to; there's no bracing moment when you get in, and swimming at 7am feels the same as swimming at 3pm.
What time is it in Koh Samui?
GMT+7. That's six hours ahead of the UK in summer, five in winter, and five ahead of most of Western Europe in summer. If a live camera looks black, it's the middle of the night here — not a storm.
